RING AHOY (1) continued his fine run of form last start, making up many lengths to finish a close second over 1 ?m at Grafton. Tackles a much easier assignment today but pays for that with an extra 6.5 kg in the saddlebags. Still looks the one to beat. EGYPTOLOGIST (4) has been hot and cold of late. Scored two back at Hawkesbury then dropped out alarmingly at the end of a mile at Warren last time. Given a 33-day reset so worth another chance. SPENZALOT (2) won a similar race here at this trip two back then struggled in the same race as Ring Ahoy at Grafton recently. Deserves another chance back in this more suitable race. DIPIERDOMENICO (6) doesn't win out of turn but hasn't been too far off them of late at or around this distance. Each-way hope. Doubt MACLEAY (3) can win but on a seven-day back-up might sneak into the minor end of the prizes.
